Local film-maker
Matt Hubbard is one of Europe 's best young entrepreneurs – it's
official!
One
of the directors of film production company Reels in Motion Limited,
Matt was named by leading website BusinessWeek.com, alongside 14
other young businessmen from across the continent, after readers
put forward their choices.
The
24-year-old, who hails from Norwich but has settled in Stoke-on-Trent
, established the company in 2004 with co-directors Phil Bland and
Joe Gordon, rather than devote his skills to a larger organisation.
Since
then the trio, who are based at the Sutherland Institute in Longton,
have dedicated their time to producing marketing and educational
DVDs for business organisations and educational bodies.
Matt
said: “We wanted to set up our own production company as the skill
sets of each director gave us the opportunity to do so.”
Before
Reels in Motion, Matt was heavily involved in the special education
sector, working as a volunteer in the school his brother Martin
attended, and then full time for SENCE and MENCAP. He also worked
for YAI in America .
Matt
said: “The nomination has been really good for business – it has
given us a lot of press coverage and potential clients have contacted
us due to the nomination.
“It's
very much our success though and I see this nomination
as recognition for the business rather than just me.”
Reels
are currently working on a number of local projects, for instance
a graphic advert for independent financial advisers ASC and a promotional
DVD for recruitment agency European Business Exchange.
Matt
added: “This nomination, along with the client base that Reels has
built up, really gives me confidence that we are making the right
moves as a company, and that we are helping to reinforce the creativity
of Stoke-on-Trent .”
