An intrepid entrepreneur has raised
almost £400 by doing a death-defying sky dive!
Tom
Prentice, of Motionworks Film and Video in Stafford , jumped from
10,000ft to help the Katharine House Hospice generate much-needed
funds for patients with life-limiting conditions like cancer and
multiple sclerosis.
The
24-year-old, who runs Motionworks with business partner Christopher
Hood, performed the tandem jump at Whitchurch Airfield in Shropshire,
along with ten other generous ‘adrenaline junkies'.
He
said: “The Katherine House Hospice is a great cause and I couldn't
think of anyone better or more deserving of my sponsors' hard-earned
cash!
“It
was a great, unforgettable experience although I don't think I'll
be doing it again in a hurry!”
The
Katharine House Hospice, which was formed in 1989, is based in Stafford
, and operates 10 inpatient beds alongside another 15 places in
their day care unit. All services are provided free of charge, which
means they rely heavily on donations from the public.
Their
corporate fundraiser Kelly Day said: “We have to raise £1.5
million per year just to keep the hospice open, and because only
15% of that comes from statutory funding we need a lot of help from
members of the public.
“It
is thanks to the generosity of fund-raisers like Tom and the local
community that we can keep the hospice going.
“There
are various ways people can help us, but if they like to get the
adrenaline pumping, we are looking to do another sky dive soon.”
