A
fledgling film firm is heading Stateside to shoot a major new DVD.
Penkhull-based
Lenzflare's trip to Boston in March, to produce a movie on the history
of Fender guitars, coincides with the company's second birthday.
It
marks a major departure for Staffordshire University graduates Colin
Mottram and Kathy Plaskitt, who have concentrated on educational
documentaries and corporate work since setting up in 2005.
The
dynamic duo have already worked for major organisations around the
country, such as Shell Oil. And they credit their link-up with funding
body HE Full Circle – and more specifically Enterprise Co-ordinator
Chris Garner – for a large proportion of their success.
Colin
said: “We've had a really good couple of years and we're booked
up for the next few months.
“The
bursary from HE Full Circle made a big difference, because we were
able to buy company stationery, but we couldn't have made it this
far without their continued support.”
Kathy
added: “Chris Garner has been very proactive when it comes to spotting
opportunities for us, and we didn't really expect that at first.
“We
are still in contact with Chris two years after we set the company
up, and that's made a real difference to us because I don't think
we'd still be here without their help.”
HE
Full Circle is a five-year project
funded by Advantage West Midlands, and hosted by Staffordshire University
.
It
is designed to encourage students to set up their own business when
they complete their degrees. The aim is to raise Staffordshire's
graduate retention rate, which at the moment is one of the lowest
in the UK .
