Up and coming
bands and singers are to get a showcase for their talents – thanks
to film-maker Chris Atkinson!
The
owner of Jasper Films is working on a short feature called ‘Stafford
Music Scene', which will include performances from local bands and
opinions on the town's musical future.
And
the 24-year-old, originally from Penkridge but now living in Stafford,
hopes his 30 minute movie will help to put the town on the map as
a hotbed of musical talent.
He
said: “There are plenty of good local bands coming through, so hopefully
my film will make more people aware of them.
“I
think people really underestimate Stafford and the county overall,
thinking we've got nothing to offer. I want my film to change those
preconceptions.”
Chris
has already attended gigs in venues around Stafford , and interviewed
bands like Hips Like Cinderella, The Hunchbacks and Majika. He has
also spoken to fans at the gigs to get their opinions.
He
said: “The bands and fans I spoke to were really positive about
the future for the bands coming through right now.
“We've
got a thriving music scene here in Stafford . The only thing we
are lacking is a venue like the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton , where
bands could perform in front of a large audience.”
Chris
is currently in negotiations with a number of local retailers about
stocking the DVD, which will be released in December. It will also
be available through distributors Film Studios Ltd, via their website:
