The
dream of a secure, paperless office could become a reality, thanks
to young entrepreneur Jonathan Hulme.
The
21-year-old owner of Digipigeon, who set up his first business at
the age of 14, has devised a new software package which will perform
a variety of time-consuming functions for businesses, like invoicing,
advanced order processing, and mailshots.
All
processing is done remotely using Digipigeon's servers in London
and Manchester . This means the two servers can support each other,
which makes the system more stable.
And
because all data is stored remotely, it can be easily recovered
in the event of a disaster on the customer's premises, for instance
a fire.
Jonathan
said: “This system is unique, because most software programs can't
perform functions like invoicing or advanced order processing with
the same level of automation.
“It's
perfect for SMEs who want to use the time usually spent on admin
to bring in more customers. They start with a foundation package,
and then we can add other functions depending on the customer's
needs.
“It
also means, because customer data is stored safely and remotely,
none of it would be lost in the event of a fire, for instance.”
The
recent Keele University graduate is hoping to incorporate more services,
such as integrated web design, to provide a complete solution to
small businesses.
He
said: “People have been aiming for the paperless office for years,
without ever getting there.
“This
is the closest we can get to it at the moment, and could eventually
mean the end of envelopes, stamps and paper.”
